UK-based D1 Oils, a biodiesel producer, has targeted bringing around one lakh hectares under jatropha cultivation this fiscal. The company set up joint ventures in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Orissa, apart from all seven states in the north eastern region.
D1 Oils’ expansion plans will involve an investment of Rs 40 crore next year. It is setting up an oil refinery to produce jatropha oil for blending with fossil fuel. The biodiesel producer is set to manufacture around 10,000 to 20,000 tonnes of jatropha oil in 2008-09.
